Take a look at the picture I’ve posted here – I snapped it, uploaded it, posted it…took me maybe 90 seconds. It was taken January 18, 2021, less than 48 hours before the inaugural ceremony that will make Joe Biden and Kamala Harris the next president and vice-president respectively. In the photo I’m sitting at my art table wearing one of my favorite hand-me-down shirts from my husband Jim. It’s big and I use it as an art smock over my clothes when I paint. The more I wear it, the more it gets splattered with colors – and the more I love it. 

There’s no professional photographer here. And you won’t find a staff directory either. I’m the blogger, the photographer, the designer. 

More than anything I’m the storyteller – sometimes with words, occasionally with art, and photos. Some of what you’ll find here is quirky, some of it kitschy, some serious, some lite.

And like the content here, my interests are eclectic. Quirky and bookish are words I’ve heard more than once. They called me smartie pants in the 4th grade – that’s the year I got glasses. I’ve heard analytical, argumentative, and one or two others I won’t list here –

Over the years I picked up a degree, became a counselor, saw a counselor, worked as a writer, wrote instruction manuals, courses, grants, feature articles and blogs for other people. I started a soap making business, taught aerobics, gained and lost weight, gained some weight back, became a wife, became an aunt, learned a little about a lot and traveled when I could.

I’m adding blogger to my list.

Here I’ll share things I know, things I think, what I’ve done and what I’m learning. Learning is what drives me and whether I’m writing, painting, making soap, cooking, reading, decorating or traveling, I’m learning. If something on this blog resonates, entertains, helps or informs then I can say I’ve blogged well – I won’t be taking it too seriously. I hope you won’t either. Welcome to Seriously Quirky.
